Now in its third year, the Hingetown Jazz Festival, a free event held on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend, will return to the Ohio City neighborhood on Aug. 30.

“Our mission is to celebrate Northeast Ohio’s rich jazz community by showcasing talented local and regional artists, from skilled veterans to emerging talents,” reads a press release about the event. “The festival takes place across multiple venues, making live jazz accessible to the entire community.”

The first year attracted about 600 attendees. Last year, more than 1,000 attendees, including city council members and Mayor Justin Bibb, were on hand for the festivities.

This year, acts such as Pulse, the Tim Powell Trio, Abstract Sounds and Horizon will perform at venues such as the Bop Stop, Saucy Brew Works and Jukebox.

Community partners include Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), Cleveland State University and the Music Settlement. Furthermore, this year’s festival will provide new performance opportunities specifically for young student musicians.
