Discovered as a 16-year old ingenue by Dave Stewart (of Eurythmics fame), British Blues guitar prodigy Joanne Shaw Taylor played to a near-capacity crowd at The Kent Stage on Friday night.
Bringing a six-piece band to back her up, she offered up a 16-tune set, playing some songs from her newest album, Black & Gold, along with some interesting covers that you may not associate with a Blues axe player. “Summertime,” by George Gershwin was offered towards the end of the set, followed by a wicked rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain.”
Three of the evening’s tunes came from her 2024 album Heavy Soul, with only two of the offerings from her newest effort, Black & Gold.
Here’s all of the action we caught.
