With the Barflies' Clint Alguire whomping a 28-inch bass drum and former Walking Clampett Bob Basone massaging a deep baritone guitar, Sweany's trio plays lively songs for the brokenhearted and flat-busted-broke. A rattling rhythm shakes up "Nobody Dance," "Over but the Cryin'" can hold its own against any road-worn slow-dance tune, and Sweany's primal screams shake the shack in "Bounce."
C'mon C'mere was produced by two formidable modern roots figures: Delta revivalist Jimbo Mathus and the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, who has proudly helped create his foremost regional rival. But as they've proved, the Agora's big enough for both of 'em.
