The Starting Line made its way to Cleveland last night for the first time in 12 years to play the Agora as part of its 20th anniversary tour. The band started its set with “Surprise, Surprise,” “Up and Go,” “Almost There” and “Luck.” It then took things back to its first-ever album, playing “Cheek to Cheek” and “Left Coast Envy” before slowing it down with “Making Love To the Camera,” “Inspired By The Money” and “Are You Alone.” Lead vocalist Kenny Vasoli and guitarist Matthew Watts took a break to explain to the crowd how the band got started back in the ’90s by an e-mail from Watts to Vasoli that was titled “Jamming and Shit.” They thanked everyone for 20 years of continuous love and support. The group then revisited its 2007 album, Directions, and played “Direction,” “Birds” and “Island.” They kept the vibe going with their 2016 singles “Quitter” and “Anyways.” The band’s three-song encore included throwbacks from the Say It Like You Mean It Album. The band ended the night to no surprise with “The Best of Me,” its most played song on both Apple Music and Spotify. Microwave, an American rock band from Atlanta, started the show with a 30-minute set. (Katina Alexandria Scalia)
