Maybe you don’t think of Parma as a hotbed of great cuisine — but maybe you’re wrong about that. When it comes to schnitzel or hot dogs, Vietnamese or Indian cuisines, and of course Italian and Polish food, the southwestern Cleveland suburb has you covered. And who hasn’t longed to try a “Parma roll” from one of the local sushi joints?

Reddit user BPiar recently asked Reddit what the best restaurants in Parma are, and the suggestions didn’t disappoint.

Best German Restaurant: Das Schnitzel Haus 5728 Pearl Rd., Parma, Hearty German food might not be what first comes to mind when it comes to comfort food. But the type of German food they serve at this Parma restaurant definitely is comforting. A heaping plate of schnitzel, pierogies or stuffed veal is perfect for a rainy day. Credit: Scene Archives
Schnitz Ale Brewery 5728 Pearl Rd., Parma “This is the first brewery in the history of Parma,”owner Goran Djurin said proudly. Djurin is talking about a dazzling new brewery and restaurant that opened in November in Parma. The building sits directly across the street from Das Schnitzel Haus, which the same family opened in 2005. Flagship brews include the kolsch, marzen, stout and dunkel, which is described by Moore as a dark-style kolsch. Smoke Stacked is a rauchbier, a mildly smoky red ale. Guests can look forward to pub-friendly foods made with the same from-scratch mentality that has sustained Das Schnitzel Haus for more than 15 years. Photo via Scene Archives Credit: Scene Archives

Seoul Garden 5270 Pearl Rd., Parma Adventure is the name of the game at Seoul Garden, the region’s best Korean restaurant (despite less-than-glamorous digs) for nearly a decade. At this Parma institution, small groups huddle around bubbling pots of “jungol,” hearty stews that run the gamut from spicy seafood to “Army Base,” so named for the inclusion of American Spam. Other tables feature tabletop griddles for cooking up Korean barbecue items like thin-sliced pork belly and beef brisket, which are wrapped in lettuce leaves, topped with red chili pepper paste and kimchi, and eaten out of hand. For the uninitiated, bibimbop is a great place to start. Served in a hot stone bowl, this mix of steamed rice, shredded veggies, ground beef and egg is Korean comfort food. Credit: Scene Archives

The staff is attentive and very knowledgeable and will help point you in the right direction if you’re new to sushi or want to try something new. Mizu proves that the restaurant doesn’t have to be in a fancy location to be incredible! ,” Nathan B. on Yelp. Photo via Mizu Japanese Sushi Restaurant/Facebook Credit: Scene Archives
Au Jus 5875 Broadview Rd., Parma Thanks to this summer’s smash hit “The Bear” on FX, interest in authentic Chicago-style Italian beef sandwiches has never been higher. That yearning appears to have translated into a promising launch for Au Jus, which specializes in that drippy Italian classic. The owners of Au Jus are striving to do things by the book. They slow-roast top round beef for more than five hours before chilling and thinly slicing it. The drippings are turned into flavorful au jus sauce. The sliced roast beef is warmed in hot au jus, piled into long French rolls and topped with sweet or spicy giardiniera. Additional au jus is served on the side for dipping, but sandwiches can be dunked by request. In Chicagoland, the sandwiches are typically enjoyed without cheese, but a layer of provolone is certainly acceptable. Credit: Jacob Kelly
