Good afternoon, Cleveland. The engines that make up the Scene newsroom — two cans of Diet Coke and a a bottle of smoothie-flavored Tums — are churning out this week’s issue. That doesn’t mean stuff isn’t happening around Cleveland. Here’s a few things to read, selected with great care by picking the first stories we came across.

— Slapping a cop will get your name in the newspaper and your picture on these fine pages. (Sandusky Register)

— ODOT is going to close a bunch of stuff again. Brush up on the latest detours. (NewsNet5)

— Heroin doses are going up and show no signs of stopping. Don’t do heroin, kids. (NewsNet5)

  1. Does Cleve.scene have any interest in becoming a news source? Or are you content to remain a joke? That’s fine if you want to remain a fucking joke and contribute nothing but a dull form of entertainment to a bunch of brain-dead Cleveland’s dumbest, but don’t think for a minute that you are anything other than meaningless so far as the big picture of Cleveland is concerned.

  2. Kenny, while I agree with you that Scene’s reputation around town isn’t exactly crystal, one little snippet to point out from the opening paragraph:

“Here’s a few things to read, selected with great care by picking the first stories we came across. “

So yeah, I don’t really think they were trying to pick the best of the best (one might argue that it would not matter if they were). This news blog seems to be feast or famine in terms of quality of material. I love how I can find out about obscure Cleveland news that other outlets don’t cover, but sometimes things on here are just plain silly and I am forced to treat them as such.
