Heartbreaking stories from across northeast Ohio are flooding in, recounting failed expeditions through area thrift shops and big box retailers in search of the holiday wardrobe staple.
The shortage is putting a damper on everyone's holiday spirits, and Ohioans are resorting to designing their own ugly sweaters last minute.
Sure, gluing some cotton ball pom-poms onto an otherwise uninteresting red sweater may be easy, but ugly sweater wearers know that the real joy of ugly sweaters comes from finding and owning a piece that someone else made.
An Akron man may have a solution, however.
Troy Zulich, owner of a successful e-commerce business, has 600 sweaters stockpiled in his Akron warehouse. Zulich bought the sweaters from a woman who found him on the internet. This woman enlisted her family and some
Zulich currently has about 80 sweaters for sale on eBay (we suspect he's keeping the rest for personal use). While the businessman doesn't open his warehouse to the public, he has plenty of sweaters to go around. And he may just alleviate Ohio's ugly holiday sweater crisis. And maybe next year, we'll stop with all the ugly sweater parties and this won't be a problem ever again.
