Rossi's Salon owner Barbie Rossi was working on a client's hair when a car drove into the building yesterday. Undeterred, Rossi continued shampooing.

The intrusive vehicle, a Buick Century, was driven by Irene Ziegman, 82. According to police, Ziegman mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake, causing her to plow through the salon's wall around noon. Ziegman was cited for reasonable control, and no one was injured (merely the waiting area and reception desk were damaged).

The crash was felt by other employees in the plaza; people working at Old Republic Title told the Chronicle that the noise was like thunder.

This did not change the fact that Rossi's customers still had chemicals in their hair, and she treated them amidst the commotion.

There was also no structural damage or reason for the plaza's other businesses to close, Elyria assistant safety service director Kevin Brubaker told the Chronicle.

If you had an appointment scheduled later today, don't worry — Rossi has temporarily repaired the hole and the salon will likely be open this afternoon.
