Catch the 25th Anniversary Re-Release of 'The Shawshank Redemption' Today

The 25th Anniversary celebrations for the Ohio-filmed The Shawshank Redemption just keep on coming. A large festival was already held in the film’s honor this August in Mansfield, Ohio, and now the film is getting a full-on national re-release.

Since its 1994 release, the hope-filled film has brought curious fans out to places like the Ohio State Reformatory and other nearby haunts to catch a glimpse of where the film was made. But with the nation-wide theater release of the Oscar-nominated movie, which kicked off Sunday, people can once again be reminded of the film’s power (it’s not ranked as one of the most beloved films for nothing).
