The weekend, the Cleveland Print Room (CPR) debuts Tiempo Fragmentado, an exhibition of work created by Creative Fusion artist Loreto Greve during her residence in Cleveland. A resident of Santiago, Chile, Greve is the sixth resident artist at Cleveland Print Room as part of the Cleveland Foundation’s Creative Fusion international artist residency program.

Greve’s exhibition at the Cleveland Print Room presents work created during her three-month residency in Cleveland this fall. Loreto Greve is a photographer and printmaker who studied Visual Arts at the Universidad Finis Terrae. The exhibition includes both photography and ink drawings on paper, as well as prints created at Zygote Press and the Cleveland Institute of Art.

"Tiempo Fragmentado is about pieces, fractions and moments in the time,” says Shari Wilkins, founder of the Cleveland Print Room. “Some of the work is captured with a camera, as they are photographs, but also Greve expresses herself capturing ‘time’ by drawing over paper, doing fast movements with black ink. These abstract drawings represent the fast action of the light over the paper. Combining drawing and photographs together she creates an interesting contrast, expressing the true and real action of the light photons over the photographic paper.”

Additionally, Tiempo Fragmentado includes work that was created in the community during Visiting Artist workshops in collaboration with two near-west side Cleveland elementary schools (Walton & Scranton) and Cleveland Heights’ Lake Erie Ink, where Greve has been working with students in preparation for their work being exhibited at Cleveland Print Room as part of a Transformations Grant from Metrohealth and Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.

During her time in Cleveland, Greve also worked with local filmmaker Robert Banks, and collaborated with local photographer and recent CIA grad Amber Ford on a series of photographic murals on the Ohio City Pasta building at 3117 Detroit Ave.

Tiempo Fragmentado opens with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 11, and remains on view through Nov. 23. Greve will discuss her work and time in Cleveland during a gallery talk at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12.
