Rumors of a change in the Cleveland Browns uniforms began to swirl after Kellen Winslow Jr. told Penthouse that the team was ready for some new duds in 2008.
Penthouse: The Browns have never significantly changed their uniforms design. But when your name is the Browns, what can you really do with that?
Winslow : You know what? We’re in the process of changing all that. Next year, you’re gonna see some new uniforms for the Cleveland Browns. This is really a big part of what Braylon Edwards and I have been talking about for a long time. It may be something similar to what the Broncos have. It’s time for a change. Sometimes people live in the past in Cleveland. That’s fine, but this team is trying to build an identity and start up something new.
First of all, the Browns just changed their uniforms last year, and by rule, can’t change them for three years now. Second, rest easy, Cleveland, because I spoke to Amy Palcic, the team’s director of communications, and she assured me that everything’s staying the same. “There are no plans to change the Browns uniforms,” she said.

There’s no reason to change the Browns uniforms. It’s a classic look. They don’t need the ridiculous Rollerball treatment that the Broncos or Titans have.

The only thing the Browns should change is to wear orange pants with their white jerseys
I have always hated the Browns uniform. I can’t tell you how many times I have redesigned it. At least they could wear the orange pants when they use the white jersey, and I also wish they would have an emblem on the helmet like everyone else.
I don’t like the Browns uniforms, but I don’t think they’re as hideous as the apparel worn on the sidelines by the coaches. Even if they never redesign the uniforms, the least they could do is design some hats and shirts that say “Browns” or have some logo on it, even if that logo never appears on their uniforms. I’m tired of seeing hats and shirts with just a picture of an orange helmet.
This is so sweet! I thought I was the only one that didn’t like the Browns uni’s. You guys are right. If their not going to change the uni’s at least give us a new primary logo other than the helmet on merchandise. I’m a die hard fan and I haven’t bought any merchandise in 8 years. My wife (bless her heart) makes t-shirts, hats, etc. for me using the Browns patches and iron on’s of the dawg head and “B” logo.
I wish they would consider the change for younger and future fans. I’m right here in Cleveland and no one in my family under 30 is a Browns fan, but me. My dad and his two crazy brothers brain washed me. If the majority of the fans want to stay stuck in the 60’s trying to relive the glory days that’s fine. Just give us a logo other than the helmet. A lot of fans talk about tradition, but what are we holding on to? My records show we never won a Super Bowl in the Super Bowl era. After the 60’s all we did was lose. We came close a couple of times to going to the big dance, but that was it and if they do change. It’s not like they can’t ever go back to wearing the old uni’s. Other NFL teams do it. They call them “throwbacks”. They could wear them twice a year.
I cannot believe how many people are stuck on a logo! Every comment here uses the phrase “like everyone else” or “get with the times” I love the fact that we are different. I bet these nay sayers are the same folks that ran out and bought Laserdiscs back in the 90’s just cause everyone else was doing it!
I don’t hate the uniforms, but I’m not huge on them either. They don’t need to drastically change them, but maybe an orange stripe down the side, or just the dawg on the sleeve or something. And as for the helmet, the solid orange is a classic. I wouldn’t want to see anything on that helmet other than possibly the “B” inside the football logo. Even with that, maybe just throw it on one side, like the steelers. (i know mentioning that is taboo, but at least you would still have the solid orange on one side.)
If you call your self a true browns fan and want to put a “logo” on the helmet, you should be dragged out in the street and have the idea smacked out of your brain! The ONLY thing I would accept on the helmets would be numbers. We got black shoes, darker home jerseys, and grey face masks. I bet half you ladies would squeal for joy if they sprinkled glitter all over them selves before each game. Don’t forget that there championship games long before the super bowl era, and the Browns ruled the league. Change the uniforms! You must be crazy.
