Cleveland Police Want to Buy Back Your Guns Saturday

Receive money just for handing over your guns to Cleveland police this Saturday. The annual buyback program, which works to lessen the amount of excess guns on the streets, kicks off at 9 a.m. at the Cleveland Police Third District Headquarters.

Those bringing in hand guns get a $100 gift certificate for food or gas, while semi-automatic weapons nab $200. Other guns can be turned in as well, but will not receive compensation.

All guns must be brought in stored in a plastic bag inside of a duffel bag, all bullets must be stored separately. An officer will then check to make sure the weapon is operational.

“We hope that citizens will take part in this program and turn in unwanted firearms because in doing so, you could save a life,” said Chief of Police Calvin Williams in a statement.
