Ohio seems to have a huge problem with the blood-sucking brownish-red bugs in general, as four of our major cities made the company’s Top 10 list. The Northeast side of the country also seems to have been hit worst with the recent spat of infestation issues, which began back in the late ’90s. For some 50 years in this country, USA Today reports, bed bugs were nearly extinct. Now they’re back with a vengeance, and Ohio is clearly struggling to keep up.
The following data is based on the amount of times Terminix was called in to treat an infestation between October of last year and this September.
Here are the 25 cities with the worst infestation problems in America:
Bed bugs are extremely hard to remove from indoor environments, which is why professional help is highly encouraged (although here’s a do-it-yourself guide from the EPA). They’re tiny, only come out at night and are now becoming insecticide resistant. People who travel, for Thanksgiving or otherwise, are highly encouraged to check mattresses when staying at hotels to prevent the spread of the pests to their own homes.
Contrary to public perception, infestations can effect anyone, as the parasites don’t live on filth, just blood.
If you believe you have a bed bug infestation, act now.

We lead the country on all the bad lists and for all the wrong reasons.
This really bugs me. Does it bug anyone else?
Itching, quit threatening in all these comments and just go. Take the bed bugs with you. Why do you think any country would let you in? Liberals have destroyed every country in which they’ve taken control.
Some important bedbug info, from someone who has dealt with an infestation in college rental housing…
You know how when you get a mosquito or horsefly bite, you can see a red mark on your skin from where it bit you? That’s not true of bedbugs, because their mouthparts are too small to leave a visible mark. This means that only about 25% of people who get bitten by bedbugs show symptoms of the bites, because they get itchy from a reaction to the bugs’ saliva. A lot of people don’t react and so don’t even know they’re being bitten. (In my case, my boyfriend and his roommate didn’t react, and so neither of them would have known the place was infested if my allergic ass hadn’t been hanging out with them on the weekends.) You may also feel abnormally tired or sick to your stomach after waking up, from the blood loss overnight.
What you’re actually looking for on the mattress are little reddish-brown spots, generally toward the sides and bottom. If the infestation is severe enough you may also notice an odor that smells kind of like rotting fruit. (We just thought it was a crappy-smelling cheap old apartment and bought air fresheners.)
Hope this info maybe helps someone.
