Rich Exner, Cleveland.com's enterprising data journalist who has been responsible for some of the publication's most important and illuminating work in recent years, including his popular Coronavirus mapping, has been promoted.
Exner announced on social media Tuesday that he would be moving into an editor role, overseeing a team of reporters on various business and economic development beats.
Chris Quinn, editor of cleveland.com, told Scene via email that while he was not in a position to discuss Exner's move just yet, it would be the first in "a series of interlocking steps" at the publication. More personnel and organizational shifts can be expected in the coming weeks.Twitter profile update: Same place, different role .. after 14 years as the data guy @clevelanddotcom & Plain Dealer, switched this week to editor of great team of reporters covering biz, real estate, travel, architecture, regional planning .. but still a data news geek for sure.
