There are plenty of reasons to hate Aerosmith. The guys are old and wrinkled (and they certainly don’t look great in high-definition), and they haven’t put a decent album in years. But then you could say the same thing about the Stones. But like the Stones, Aerosmith is a veteran group that really knows how to work an arena. Playing last night before a packed house at Quicken Loans Arena, singer Steven Tyler and his geriatric pals stuck to the tried and true as they delivered all their hits and put on an entertaining 90-minute show that had only a few lulls.

Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.

  1. You guys liked the concert better than I did. The sound mix was off the whole night, and the setlist was poor for a band with so much great material to choose from.

  2. I agree that Cheap Tricks sound was horrible….but I thought Aerosmith was awesome. I very much enjoyed Steven Tyler’s singing but have to say that Joe Perry is a much better guitar player than singer. The Aerosmith portion of the show was great and was worth every penny!!!!!

  3. Jeff Niesel, the next time AEROSMITH comes to town,do us all a favor and get someone else from Cleveland scene to review the show.Your above article is laughable at best, and completely disrespectful at worst.I was at the show last night,AEROSMITH put on a flawless performance.Having seen AEROSMITH 12 times over the last 15 years I’m undoubtedly more qualified than you to review this show. When it comes to Hard Rock AEROSMITH is the gold standard, enough said.

  4. I saw them at the Target Center and it was an awesome concert. Although they are older then when they started they are all still very sexy. My 9yr old daughter and 15 year old son attended the concert with me. We had VIP tickets and both of my children loved the show. My 9yr old daughter got up and asked the band questions and was treated very well. The guys response and the way they spoke to her melted my heart!!

What kind of way is that to start a review of a R&R HOF member that cut its eye teeth in Cleveland? These guys smoked the city at huge World Series of Rock shows at Cleveland Stadium in the 70’s and always had the absolute highest praise for the city of Cleveland, the HOF, and all the fans. They have played to dozens of sold-out Cleveland shows over the years and have always looked forward to playing here because of the fantastic music vibe and support of the fans and radio play. Jeff Niesel is just a little punk that needs to put his thumb back in his mouth and be sent to the unemployment line!
