Monday night, a 13-year-old boy in Streetsboro shot and killed his 11-year-old brother with a handgun he’d stolen from his grandfather’s home, according to police.

No motive has been ascribed in the killing, though Cleveland.com has now reported that the 13-year-old had behavioral problems and had attempted to hurt himself four days before the shooting.

Police arrived at the scene at about 9:30 p.m. A family friend had been babysitting. The 11-year-old was rushed by paramedics to University Hospitals Ravenna location, where he was pronounced dead.

The 13-year-old has been charged with aggravated murder in Portage County juvenile court. The slaying is said to have been premeditated.

News Channel 5 has reported that Streetsboro Police said the gun was a .357 Magnum and that it had been locked in a cabinet in the grandfather’s home.

“Police said the 13-year-old boy dismantled part of the locked cabinet when he couldn’t find a key,” News Channel 5 reported.

  1. When will you be publishing the Scene Gun Control Issue? How long after we turn in our weapons because you music fans asked us to, will your Nazi overlords load us up onto busses and take us to Walmart FEMA camps before the food runs out and then we all die and the burn our bodies.

  2. Wow MGDDT (aka cowardly anonymous troll)

That’s got to be either a conservative trifecta—National Socialists, Walmart FEMA camps and Prepper references all in one post—or a liberal pokefest prepared to bring the usual suspects out in force.

    Only time will tell.

Meanwhile, an 11-year-old is dead and a 13-year-old is facing life in prison.

    Well done!
