Earlier this week, IngenuityFest announced plans to move this year’s celebration of arts and technology to the former Osborne Industrial Park at 5401 Hamilton Ave. The move continues the festival’s mission to showcase underutilized areas of Cleveland.
This year’s IngenuityFest will take place during the weekend of Sept. 23 to 25. With offices in the Tower Press Building on Superior Ave., organizers are very familiar with the neighborhood, and cited new businesses such as Hub55, the Urban Grazing “Lambscaping” program and Upcycle Parts Shop as factors in the decision. Surely, the crowds at Night Market and the Cleveland Flea didn’t hurt either.
Past venues have included Playhouse Square, E. 4th Street, Euclid Avenue and the lower level of the Detroit-Superior Bridge.
After a few underwhelming years and a rain out last year, let’s hope this signals a new, fresh direction for the 12-year-old festival.

When they had it on the lakefront, underwhelming was hardly the word for it. More like “teensy”…
My wife turned to me and asked “Is that all there is?”
To which I replied “Honey, I shrunk the Ingenuity Fest!”
She cracked up. It was the high point of our whole afternoon.
It’s gotta get better. If it gets any worse…what’s the point?
