If it does snow (we say if because we’re not meteorologists, although they don’t always know either), the snowfall is expected to be a light dusting, according to the National Weather Service.
As early as it may feel, the snowfall arrival is pretty average for when Cleveland usually has seen snow over the last 30 years.
It’s more likely that we won’t see snow until next Monday, but with projected temperatures this weekend as low as 32 degrees, (the temperature when water begins to freeze) and forecasted rain, there’s a solid chance our rainstorm is going to turn into snow.
For what it’s worth, snowy weather is pretty awesome because it rings in the season of warm drinks, layered sweaters and the ability to leave your house without being smacked in the face with humidity, but it also means plowing driveways and the entire city simultaneously forgetting how to drive.

This is your first winter here, right? Get used to a LOT more snow than Chicago and a LOT less sunshine. The trade- off is that Cleveland is not as cold. Unlike Chicago, zero (and below) weather is less common here. You traded five above and minus -twenty wind chill and sunshine for thirties and gray for days on end, with rain or snow every few days. Deal with it.
Eventually, you can get used to the gloom. After…oh…about ten or fifteen years. And if you don’t have to drive in it or shovel it, you can even deal with snow. It’s pretty to walk in, or to look at from indoors.
But most people here aren’t yupscale young condo dwellers and apartment renters. They own homes and commute to real (non-journalism) jobs. And they also have cars, not Uber, so they have to drive on sloppy roads and have sidewalks and driveways to shovel, all of which make snow a big pain in the ass for most people here, between mid-November and mid-April. And no, it’s not “awesome”,,,it’s just winter. Pass me your whine and jeeze, pleeze.
im in the 30s and grey. anyone wanna trade for me?
My ancestors came from a cold and gloomy land where there was not much happiness. I like it here.
Thankfully the social justice experiment known as BJ Cojangelo has been fired from Scene. It’s a shame to see what has happened to this promising young woman writer after taking up the contrived social justice warrior persona.
How do you know that? Maybe she’s just sitting on her hiatus. For Turkey Day, ya know? Or maybe not…
She slithered into the same place she orignally crawled out of…wherever the hell that was. (Test tube?)
Thank Jeebus the BJ Project…that failed experiment…is now history. Mercifully, it didn’t last long.
