It's "Welcoming Week." Check out These Events Highlighting Cleveland's Immigrants and Refugees.


This week, the nation celebrates (and in many cases, introduces itself to) its immigrants in an official Week of Welcome.

The Cleveland Refugee Services Collaborative, which, along with city leaders, is talking about ways to more effectively welcome immigrants and refugees to Northeast Ohio, is hosting several events throughout the week in conjunction with the national effort. See the above flier for information. 

Along with the gathered leaders at the Ariel International Center last Thursday, Scene was moved by the story of Dee Salakumbo, a Congolese runner who moved to Cleveland with his family. The short film about him, which will be screened Thursday at the Capitol Theatre, was made by Think Media Studio's Chelsie Corso.
