It’s a banner week for Kevin Love. Less than 24 hours after People Magazine announced the Cavs star partnered with Banana Republic to release a collection of menswear named BR/K.LOVE-18, there’s also news that Love has created the Kevin Love Fund to prioritize mental health.
Love has been open about his struggles with anxiety and depression, gaining national attention for an article he wrote in March for The Players’ Tribune about a panic attack he experienced last season during a game against the Atlanta Hawks.
Following the panic attack, K.Love began seeing a therapist and has since become an activist for ending the stigma around mental illness. Love appeared on the Today Show this morning to announce his foundation saying, “It doesn’t discriminate, everyone is going through something.”
Partners for the Kevin Love Fund include Bring Change 2 Mind, Just Keep Livin’, Headspace and All A Little Crazy to help raise awareness and offer resources for those struggling with mental health. Love also expressed the big dreams he has for his foundation, including the desire to eventually join forces with a massive brand like Nike.
