Update: 18-year-old Randy Atkinson received a $500 fine, five years of probation, counseling, and an order that he can’t own any animals as punishment for putting his mom’s boyfriend’s cat in a hot oven. (Fox 8)

Every once in awhile a story pops up to remind us that there are sociopaths everywhere.

Bear witness to the deranged mind of a 18-year-old in Lodi who combined cooking and pets, but not in the cute “I’m baking cookies that look like my cat” sorta way. More in the “I’m baking my cat” sorta way.

I know that kid, and unfortunately his younger brother use to do similar things to the family pets, like put the hamster in the microwave oven and the cat in the freezer, he even pulled the wings off of their pet parakeet! Their mom “claims” to be a good mom, but this is what she is teaching her kids!! The court finally forced her to relinguish custody of her 5 kids because she was such a bad mother!

  3. Sure blame the mother. You failed to mention the younger brother is mentally handicapped. Or the fact the reason her 5 other children got placed with other family members is because someone thought it would be cool to bring liquid mercury into her home. This teen is on drugs and I don’t excuse his behavior it is wrong. People need to QUIT blaming the parents!

  4. All of her children are abusive to animals! Randy has been his entire life! Not to mention she was given opportunity after opportunity to get her children back and did absolutely nothing! So go ahead and blame the parent!

  6. Just heard the piece of shit is only getting a first degree misdemeanor! He should be in jail or a mental institution getting intensive shock therapy! So should his mother! Karma will get you losers!

  7. I sure hope the Medina County SPCA takes their other cat! Its only a matter of time before little Dahmer does it again! Next it will be someones defensless child! If you live in Lodi, be afraid! Medina County did not do its job! Its just a matter of time…

  8. The younger brother is NOT mentally handicapped, he had a stent put in his head. Other than that, he is fine…NOW that he is out of his birth mother’s care! He is gettting excellent grades, playing football and he is generally a great kid…NOW that he is out of his mother’s care! She had him on 20 different medications because she doesn’t know how to raise a child! He is now off every single one of those medications and getting the love and support he needed all those years his mother wouldn’t give it to him, she was just too busy being a stripper and a whore. Now the rest of her kids are MUCH better off, with families that love them and actually pay attention to them. All she did was ignore her kids! The 5 children were placed with other family members because she was too lazy to get a job and actually take care of her kids! Do your research! Check on children services in Lorain County, they know how many times they’ve told her to get a job and actually support her kids, she wouldn’t do that, so they took her kids away from her! That was the best thing that happened to those kids! I hope she and Randy both go to jail!

  9. Thank you, “my opinion”. You are correct about the younger brother, and he was a lot younger when he was in his mother’s care and did those things. Which may give some insight as to why this kind of behavior has occurred in this family on more than one occasion and by more than one child. Children are a reflection of thier enviroment and behaviors of this nature are indications of horrible abuse. Randy fell through the cracks and while he did get some theraputic help, it was not followed through with while he was in the care of his mother. Because of Children’s Service intervention, the younger brother did get the help he needed and is continuing to grow into a fine young man.

  10. Also, “keepinstraight”, no one brought the mercury into the house. The kids found an old thermometer in the basement and broke it open. And the children were not all placed with family members. Her children were taken away from her because she could not care for them, and the enviroment that she had them in, was abusive. So in this particular case, you can blame the parents.

  13. Something is mentally wrong with this person and they need to get him put up for awhile and taken care of and not just released back into society were he most likely will do things like this again.

  19. No mercy. Put this kid out of his very apparent misery. Anyone that pulls this kind of crap will only get worse in life and some of these post say it best. He’ll end up hurting or killing someone in the future.

  20. Someone needs to bake his ass. Throw him in the oven and put a chain and lock on the oven so he can’t try to get out.

  23. Freakin’ social – rarely can you reform them. His 5yrs should have been remanded as a ward of the mental institution.
