Whether you’ve stayed there or are just tangentially aware of its existence thanks to trips to Cedar Point, you might care that the Maui Sands hotel and indoor waterpark will be featured on the Travel Channel’s “Hotel Impossible.” The show, much like Bar Rescue, dives into a business with the hopes of making it better in all sorts of ways.

Current Maui Sands owners Patel and Kirit Parmar have been renovating the hotel since buying it back in 2011. The pair say despite the improvements, the hotel is still in dire need of help (and some of these TripAdvisor.com reviews give us an idea where that help is needed), which is why they applied to be part of the one-hour program.

“We have not been doing the marketing we should have. This will give us the marketing we need,” Parmar told the Sandusky Register.

An official air date hasn’t been set, but expect to see a promo for their episode soon.

  1. Good for them! Add a wave pool please. I didn’t mind staying there..the price was right staff was very nice, but they unfortunately take a back seat to Kalahari…. I compared it to imagining being out in some boon dock town and Maui sands being the big deal for all the locals. Only way to describe it… Looking forward to seeing the renovations!!

  2. I am one of those bad Trip Advisor reviews from 2 years ago. I guess that should be a sign of how bad it was when, years later, I’m writing an anonymous message about how awful that hotel is. It remains one of my worst hotel experiences and I travel for work. Let’s just say the only thing dirtier than my room was the attitude of the staff. Looking at recent reviews it seems things have only gotten worse.

The whole experience was so bad it’s become an inside joke with the people I traveled with for that particular trip. When we check into a hotel and find something amiss we always say things like, “Wow, we have towels? In our room? Our shower drains? What about our free food in the room from the last guests? Must not be the Maui Sands!”

  3. As a previous employee all I can say is watch out for the bed bugs, cause theyre everywhere at Maui Sands.

  4. bed bugs galore and then they do not refund you all your money as promised. Very bad experience at a very bad place.

  5. I watched the tv show all i can say is the atate inapectors should be fired and the hotel closed.

People should demand to know how thia place passes any imspecrion it is a public health risk.
