The billboard on South Marginal and East 55th reads “Abortion is a blessing.” On the other side of Cleveland, “Abortion is a family value,” is plastered at  Bellaire and Guardian.

Attempting to spark conversation and persuade folks to see abortion in a new light, Preterm, Ohio’s biggest procedure provider, is sponsoring 16 billboards around town, including the two described above, with fill-in-the-blank-style signage.

“Ohio’s politicians have chipped away at abortion access for years,” Chrisse France, Preterm’s executive director, said in a statement. “In response, Preterm is sending a powerful message to our legislators with this billboard campaign.”

New legislation was recently signed to ban Down Syndrome abortions in Ohio. The debate for and against the bill was quite heated.

  1. My life, quite interesting. I wonder if there is any room to consider the rights or life of the baby boy or girl? Not in terms of the extreme cases (mothers life in danger if Baby born, or rape, etc), but as a default base? Does the baby have any rights at all? Or not? Granted the mother obviously has rights and my life is a great slogan; should the Baby have any rights afforded it? Or none whatsoever?

  2. @Seven Seven: If you think a fetus has rights, why should being conceived by rape eliminate those rights?

  3. Let’s start by getting the vocabulary right, Seven Seven and Little Baby. This isn’t a baby. It’s a fetus. It has the potential to become a baby, but at the time it isn’t one yet. So no, the fetus doesn’t have rights.

  4. Everyone that believes in murder should be drug out into the street and shot… and eye for an eye. These billboards are the stupidest things I have ever heard of.

  5. Why do these people want to kill their fetuses which would be their babies? Why don’t they want these babies?

  6. Everybody has their signs these days, politicians with their names, every protester with some recycled message, billboards, adverts.

Everybody needs to shut the fuck up for a while and quit jamming themselves and their opinions into our faces with all these good damn signs.

  7. Listen up, anonymous trolls, and listen well…
When anti-abortion Bible-thumpers get in my face, my reply to them (and to you) is always the same:

“Don’t like abortion? THEN DON’T HAVE ONE!”

Shuts them the f’k up every time…and also makes bystanders laugh out loud.

    Chuckles the Clown

  8. Chuckles, these signs are made by people who do want you to have an abortion. You could say to them: “Like abortions? Then go have one…. But stop telling me to get them.”

Is there so many babies (sorry fetuses) produced by rape that we need billboards about it? Or are these people having sex with someone then deciding they don’t want the baby that was produced?

  9. Heads-up: Fetus and baby are not interchangeable synonyms. A fetus becomes a baby at birth.

  10. Commies? Retards? “THESE PEOPLE”…you really need to throw away that raggedy Fifties snark book, and buy a newer edition , son.
