Happy National Problem Gambling Awareness Week!

Who brought the booze?

The Ohio Lottery is teaming up with the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services to host a conference on problem gambling this week in Columbus beginning Wednesday. The AP points out that this event is coming “just days after the opening of the state’s fourth voter-approved casino.” Clocking in at $400 million, the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati is scheduled to open today.

The organization’s ongoing problem gambling hotline is available at 1-800-589-9966. Check out a (rather unsettling) promo video from the Ohio Lottery below.

In Cleveland, meanwhile, the Greater Cleveland RTA is carrying its share of the problem gambling load; the RTA’s website prominently features information and directions to the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland alongside schedules, timetables and trip planning documents.

  1. Who knew that there could be downsides to a casino opening in Cleveland? Oh well, at least the casino is raking in 20-30 mil per month. All that money allows them to “give back to the city” in the form of free gambling credits.
