Club Envy sits just a block from the historic Westside Market, down on W. 25th and Monroe. Early this morning around 2:15, shots were fired at the club after an altercation inside spilled outside.
Sgt. Sammy Morris told the media that three off-duty cops were working security at the club Thursday night and Friday morning. When a fight broke out, the three officers escorted the individuals outside. According to the statement, one of the men involved saw another man who he had been fighting with inside the club and got out his gun, firing into the crowd.
Two of the three officers on scene then fired back, hitting the suspect. With gunshot wounds to his neck and shoulder, the suspect then hopped in a car and fled, hitting a bridge just a short distance down the road. Morris says the suspect died on the scene. The car, with the body still inside, was towed early this morning to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
The three other injured in the shootings were taken to Metro. No word on their conditions at this time.

As an African American individual, I am both ashamed and appauled. I am ashamed that some of our “people” have become such uncaring, callous, worthless gangsters who don’t give a damn about anything or anyone. I am ashamed that our youth have become so immune to common respect for human life. I am ashamed that parents are no longer parenting their teens and letting them out into the community to cause grief for other parents because they are not doing their jobs. I am ashamed that cops can’t do their job effectively because the corrupt judges that sit on the bench do not see the need to throw these wastes of space in prison for their first offenses (committing a crime with any weapon). I think if you are under the age of 21 and you are caught with a gun or commit a crime with a gun, it should be a mandatory 5 years or more for you. No slap on the wrist, no juvie detention….prison. With all this being said, I am appauled that you have to feel that black people are savages. I have absolutely no argument for you on that….and I am ashamed of that.
@Stitcharoo, my guess is, you must be racist! Crime is crime whether the person is black, white, hispanic, asian, or otherwise. White people do some dumb stuff too (don’t forget Casey Anthony) and you always got the KKK. Fun fact for you; White people make up well over 80% of the individuals receiving public assistance.
Now to comment on this story! It’s shameful to see the state of this city and the young people that are destroying it. Ghetto people (whether they are black or white) are a cancer to our society and a drain on it economically!

Why is this framed as having anything to do with the West Side Market, which isn’t even open at 2:15 a.m.? Couldn’t the site just be identified as Club Envy, a block south of Lorain on West 25th? That’s really all the ID you need.
Stitch, sounds like you’re bitter that one of those “savages”, stole your high school sweetheart, or took your spot at linebacker, or currently dating your mother. What ever the reason, you have to let it go! Life is too short for you to be going through life holding on to so much hurt and pain. Only love can conquer hate!
