More than 1,000 PEZ candy enthusiasts are set to descend upon the Holiday Inn Independence this week for the annual PEZamania conference.
Running through Saturday, the world's largest gathering of PEZ collectors, dealers and authors from up to 12 different countries, are set to participate in seminars and family-friendly games throughout the week.
The convention began 28 years ago in Mentor, hosted by Rick and Sue Marlowe, as a small gathering for collectors to trade and sell with others.
"My favorite part of the convention is definitely the people," Rick Marlow tells
Scene. "PEZamania is a big family."
The final day of the convention commences with a PEZ trade show from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the hotel's ballroom open to the public. The show costs $5 per adult, but you can bring the whole family and get in for $10.
The day also includes a charity auction event for the Toledo Ohio Chapter of Gliding Stars, an organization that helps improves the health of those with disabilities through ice skating.
