Phil Pavarini is running against Earle B. Turner for the Clerk of Courts post. Earle B. Turner is probably going to win, much to the dismay of everyone, including the PD, who while deciding not to endorse anyone in the race, noted that Earle B. Turner is something less than a perfect public employee. That editorial came the same week the PD reported that Turner’s office failed to send a mountain of ticket and suspension notices to the Ohio BMV.

This morning, this tweet from Pavarini’s campaign came across the tweet-wire:

Phil Pavarini Invites Earle B Turner on a Bike Ride Saturday Oct 29 · 11:00am 2:00pm Mill Creek Falls History Center 8404 Webb Ter Cleve OH

As the PD’s Henry Gomez points out, that is both funny and predictable for one reason: when the PD investigated how often (um, or not so often) Turner checked into work in 2008 by examining his parking records, Turner’s excuse for the lack of frequent swipes of his parking card was that he often bicycled to work.
