After coming back from being down 15.5 games in the standings, the Guardians found themselves not only back into contention for a Wild Card spot, but ultimately a division title. They won the AL Central by one game over the same Detroit Tigers team they would end up facing in the opening round of Postseason play.

The Tigers won the first game and the Guardians would win the second match thanks to some late game heroics, setting the stage for a decisive third game.

It was a tight matchup, with a score of 1-1 until the sixth inning, when the Tigers added a run to the score. In the seventh inning, the bottom fell out and Detroit ran the score up to 6-1. The Guardians managed to get back a couple runs in the eighth inning to make it 6-3, but they would get no closer and lost the game.

The Tigers will continue on and face the Seattle Mariners in the ALDS.
