R&B and soul star Raphael Saadiq will be in Cleveland on Thursday to help kick off President Barack Obama’s fall campaign in northeast Ohio.

Saadiq will be giving a free concert at the House of Blues, starting at 6 p.m. Along with a sampling of his distinctive style of R&B, he will be pumping up potential volunteers with a pep talk on Obama’s accomplishments and tips on getting out the vote.

A well-known Obama supporter, Saadiq is a former member of the multiplatinum group Tony! Toni! Toné! He has been nominated for 12 Grammy awards, winning in 2003 for Best R&B Song “Love of My Life (Ode to Hip-Hop).”

Saadiq received three Grammy nominations for his 2008 album “The Way I See It,” which featured guest artists Stevie Wonder, Joss Stone and Jay-Z. It was voted Best Album of the Year on iTunes.
