Roll for Charisma: Lakewood's Side Quest Hosts Dungeons and Dragons Comedy Show

Lakewood's nerdiest bar, the Side Quest, will host Knights of the Arcade, a Dungeons and Dragons comedy show, in August.

Hailing from the mystical far-off realm of Pittsburgh, these Knights are a team of improv comedians who play a live game of D&D, embarking on a quest built from audience suggestions. The dice rolls are projected on a video screen so the audience can see every success and failure the almighty 20-sided die dictates.

Like any good D&D campaign, expect "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" style absurdity. Spectators don't even need to know anything about the game rules to have a good time. The focus here is on the "role play" part of the world's most famous role-playing game.

Here's a scene from a performance at the Knights' home stage, the Arcade Comedy Theater in Pittsburgh to give you an idea of how things may play out:

Knights of the Arcade will perform three shows at the Side Quest: one on Friday, August 7 at 9 p.m. and two more on Saturday, August 8 at 9 and 11 p.m. Tickets are available now and seating will be limited.

If you're feeling like setting out on an adventure yourself, the Side Quest also hosts beginner's D&D sessions, open to all skill levels, every Sunday at 4 p.m.
