One of them, Mayor Frank Jackson appointee Luz Pellot, fills a seat that has been vacant since Kelley Britt resigned from her post in August, 2018, after a ruling from the Ohio Ethics Commission. With Pellot’s appointment, the board will have a full complement of members (10).
The Cuyahoga County Mayors and City Managers Association has appointed David E. Weiss, Mayor of Shaker Heights, to fill the term previously held by Mayor Georgine Welo of South Euclid. Weiss’s term will begin in March, and he’ll join Westlake Mayor Dennis M. Clough, who serves as President of the Board, and Parma Heights Mayor Michael P. Byrne as representatives from the local mayors group.
Jackson has dallied on his appointment for so long that Luz Pellot’s seat — the one vacated by Britt — actually expires in March. But Jackson is likely to renew Pellot’s appointment for the following term as well.
Pellot is a business systems analyst at the Xerox Corporation and serves as the Secretary of the Board at Graffiti HeArt, the local street art gallery and nonprofit. She joins Jackson’s Chief of Government and International Affairs Valarie McCall, the Rev. Charles Lucas and Leo Serrano, who leads CMSD’s Office of Institutional Advancement, as the city appointees.
