Soul Rebels at Mahall's: Concert Review

photo_2_.JPG
Bringing together a fun-loving crowd from across Cleveland, New Orleans' own Soul Rebels Brass Band showed up at Mahall's 20 Lanes in Lakewood last night and delivered the goods.

The energy throughout the night was absolutely stunning. Packed in shoulder-to-shoulder, everyone in the room was getting down and increasing the energy in tandem with the band.

Never-gonna-stop fan favorites like "Turn It Up" and "My Time" kept everyone head-bobbin' and full-body-groovin' throughout the show. But one of the great things about a band like this is how it really doesn't matter how acquainted one is with their music. For many, this was surely the first exposure to the Soul Rebels sound. It's a safe bet that they picked up droves of new fans last night.

One of the unique highlights from the evening came about when the band led everyone in the bar in a second line parade through the concert hall, dining area and bowling alleys. Very much bringing the flavor of New Orleans to the inner-ring suburb of Lakewood, this part of the night really underscored the sense of community that the guys in Soul Rebels cherish.
