St. Ignatius High School alum Rory O'Malley, the Tony-nominated musical theater phenom, will join the cast of the Broadway smash hit "Hamilton," Entertainment Weekly and others report.

O'Malley will play King George III, a role currently inhabited by Jonathan Groff, who was nominated for a Tony for his performance in Spring Awakening. The King George role was originated by none other than Brian D'Arcy James, known most recently for his role in the Spotlight film. (He was the dude with the mustache).

O'Malley is a 1999 Ignatius grad and has enjoyed considerable success on Broadway. His Hamilton casting comes after he was slated to play Bill Gates in the canceled musical "Nerds."

O'Malley was nominated for a Tony for his turn as Elder McKinley in The Book of Mormon.
