Back in 2008, the day before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper Eric Wlodarsky snapped a cell phone pic of a fellow trooper in a makeshift KKK outfit and sent the photo to a sergeant. Bad idea. He was on duty at the time. Double bad idea.
The KKK "prank" received national attention, landing Wlodarsky plenty of unflattering news coverage.
That old news was drudged up again this weekend because Wlodarsky was cited for a DUI. The Sandusky Register reports that the trooper crashed his truck into a tree while tooling around with a 0.13 BAC. When cops arrived, he tried the ole "I wasn't the driver" routine, blaming the crash on a woman that was also in the vehicle. She denied that assertion and he eventually fessed up to being behind the wheel.
Cops also found a loaded handgun in the truck.
Wlodarsky was not taken to jail, instead being issued a summons for his charges. No word on if he snapped any cell phone pictures during the incident.
