Welp. The NFL Network and ESPN have made it official: Brian Hoyer will be the Houston Texans’ starting quarterback to kick off the 2015 campaign.
The 29-year-old Cleveland native and St. Ignatius alum was the Browns’ QB for portions of 2013 in 2014.
Hoyer beat out Houston’s Ryan Mallett for the job in a starting QB battle that rivaled only Cleveland in its rage/depression-inducement.
“I think at this point there’s definitely things that need to be corrected and get fixed,” Hoyer said in a post-game press conference Saturday. “But I don’t feel poorly about where I’m at. I don’t know if I’d say I feel great. I think we have a long way to go as an entire offensive unit, myself included.”
How about that for confidence, Houston?
Just because, here’s this Hallelujah parody that Scene helped produce (i.e. made a slideshow out of and posted on YouTube for our buddies).

This article appears in Aug 19-25, 2015.

And, meanwhile….on Lou Groza Boulevard — Jimmy Haslam is loading up his clown car for another season of Johnny Mania.
That’s pretty much the worst song ever.
I like Brian Hoyer, I really, truly do. I also hope that the Texans turn their season around after that first game yesterday. That’s about the only nice thing I can say about all of that.
