Tom Bullock Admits To Some Embellished Claims

My bad, sorta.
  • "My bad, sorta."

Scene recently called out Councilman Tom Bullock for some BS he had on a campaign mailer that cited us as saying stuff we didn't really say. Specifically, that Nickie Antonio "stands with party bosses in opposing the county government reform effort." We didn't say that. Or mention Nickie Antonio at all in the original article.

Tom was nice enough to send us a letter explaining how that little mishap occurred, and, well, we'll let you judge for yourself.

As the recent entry in Scene & Heard correctly notes, my campaign sent out a mailer making a statement about my opponent’s position on county government reform that cited a Scene article [“Never Mind Bullock’s Embellished Claims,” April 14, 2010].

Scene is absolutely correct that the story cited never mentioned Nickie Antonio. The article was used as a source for the fact that Cuyahoga County party bosses opposed county government reform. Because Antonio’s stated position against Issue 6 had not been covered in the press, there was no article to source that portion of the statement.

But no one has attempted to deny the truth of the statement itself or of the other statements comparing our records.

Nickie Antonio is a good person, and we have worked together on the Lakewood City Council to accomplish some great things. She is not corrupt, and my campaign has never claimed her to be so. However, we have a very different outlook on how critical reform is for the future of our community.
