— Universal Windows (@universlwindows) September 8, 2017After Corey Kluber and the Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox Thursday night for the franchise's record-breaking 15th straight win, local company Universal Windows Direct must pay back $1.7 million in orders to make good on a promotion.
As was reported yesterday, Universal Windows Direct had promised that if the Indians won 15 straight games between August 1 and the end of the season, all work done by the company in July would be free of charge.
The company had 266 work orders in July in both the Cleveland and Columbus markets, with the most expensive projects worth more than $30,000. Total costs were roughly $1.7 million.
ESPN's Darren Rovell reported that Universal Windows paid $75,000 for insurance on the promotion.
"The company now has to submit a claim to the insurance company," Rovell reported, "and Universal Windows should have its money within a week to then dole out to its customers."
