Nike executives and their ad agencies have understood for decades that marketing sneakers is about selling a look. An iconic – and early – print campaign for running shoes featured a photo of racers who just finished the summertime Peachtree Road Race…..and while it shows a mass appeal for a sport that was on the cusp of becoming a pop culture powerhouse…..none of the runners were wearing Nike shoes.
am a dub fan here in Cali, but this made me appreciate what the Cavs did.
Congratulations to Lebron, the Cavs and the city of Cleveland.
Hopefully we can start a rivalry that meets in the finals for years to come.
