Vintage Video: Len Barker's Perfect Game

30 years ago this weekend, Len Barker threw a perfect game at Municipal Stadium in front of either 95,092 fans, if you believe everyone who claimed to be there, or somewhere around 5,000. (7,290 was the paid attendance, but it was a rainy, cold night, so take that number for what you will.)

NewsNet5 dug up video from their vaults of the game and the newscast afterward. Both videos are embedded below. The first is of the pre-game bits and the post-game coverage, the latter part of which is simply great. A reporter broadcasts live from the Stadium Club where he catches up with a mustachioed, cigarette-smoking, beer-drinking guy who was in charge of charting Len Barker's pitches that day. He let's the word "shit" slip during the interview, which makes for some good television.

The second video is WEWS' coverage from the field during the 9th inning, which gives a rare glimpse of the final out focusing on Barker, not Manning's catch in center.
