Westlake Cops Break Up In-Car Argument Between Kendrick Perkins and His Wife

Though no one was taken into custody this morning — no one was even arrested or cited — Kendrick Perkins and his wife Vanity were fighting in their SUV before Westlake cops arrived on scene to settle the squabble.

Neither Perkins nor his wife sustained injuries. They told police it was just a "verbal altercation."   

According to a statement by  Westlake Police, the city prosecutor will investigate the case to determine whether or not charges will be filed.

Captain Guy Turner said any dashcam footage wouldn't be released until an investigation is complete and that the initial report wouldn't even be finished until tomorrow so he had little to add beyond the printed statement.  

Westlake police drove Perkins back to his residence while his wife departed in the SUV. 

Cavs Senior VP for Communications Tad Carper said that the team is slated to fly to Chicago later this afternoon. He did not immediately respond when asked if Perkins would be on the flight. 

UPDATE: Carper confirmed that Perkins is expected to fly with the team to Chicago. Kevin Love, however, is not.

The Cavs take on the Bulls Thursday evening in Chicago. If the Cavs win, they will advance to the NBA's Eastern Conference Finals. 

Not that this had anything to do with this morning's marital strife, but Perkins was fired up after last night's victory in large part because of Taj Gibson's controversial flagrant foul on scrappy Aussie hero Matthew Dellavedova. 

The candid, and entertaining Kendrick Perkins on the Taj Gibson kick: "Man, he has to get suspended. He kicked my boy Delly in the ass."
