This Sunday is Mother's Day, and instead of scrambling for last minute floral arrangements or trying to squeeze your way into an overcrowded restaurant for brunch, Cleveland has plenty of more creative ways to celebrate the person who brought you into this world. Bottomless mimosas are pretty damn awesome, but this year, give your mama a reason to be proud that you're her kid by doing something completely different.

Treat Mom to a Free Workout
If you're going to go the brunch route (which, let's be honest, you probably are), what better way to continue the day than working off all of those fluffy pancake calories? 121 Fitness Center and 121's Uptown Cycle in Cleveland are hosting a "Free Guest Day" in honor of Mother's Day. Catch a workout or hop on a bike alongside your mama and pedal away all of the angst from your teen years. Photo IDs are required for access and Uptown Cycle class registration can be done by clicking here. 121 Fitness Center is located at 2130 Adelbert Road.

Stay Curious at the Great Lakes Science Center
Your mom taught you how to read, tie your shoes, and wipe your own butt. Honor her by teaching her a thing or two with a visit to the Great Lakes Science Center. Guests of all ages can check out amazing science demos, the Strange Science Big Science Show, hands-on activities and a Wonders of Water activity sponsored by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. The events take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. All moms receive half off the price of any general admission or combo admission ticket. The Great Lakes Science Center is located at 601 Erieside Ave.

Become a Blacksmith
Cleveland Blacksmithing is offering a two-for-one special for anyone wanting to forge some iron with their mom. In this three-hour class you'll learn the basics of working with hot iron using techniques such as tapering, twisting, and scrolling where you'll take your first crack at hammering hot metal on an anvil. Choose to make a variety of utilitarian items, such as wall hooks, a fire poker, a plant hanger etc., which are yours to take home and enjoy for years to come. Cleveland Blacksmithing is located at 4009 Fulton Court and tickets can be purchased by clicking here.

Get Artful at the Cleveland Museum of Art
The Cleveland Museum of Art is hosting a day of curated programs to celebrate Mother’s Day. Mom snags free admission to the special exhibition 'Eyewitness Views: Making History in Eighteenth-Century Europe and the opportunity to view the newly redesigned Tiffany and Fabergé galleries. As usual, you and mom can also enjoy guided tours of the collection, a curated and dynamic view of works celebrating mom in ARTLENS Gallery, and art-making activities for the entire family. Provenance, the museum’s fine dining restaurant will also be hosting a brunch special (we can't escape brunch!) that require an advanced reservation. For more information, click here. The Cleveland Museum of Art is located at 11150 East Blvd.

Make a Fishy Mother's Day Card at The Aquarium
The Greater Cleveland Aquarium is offering free admission for moms on Mother’s Day (Sunday, May 13, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., last entry at 4 p,m.) with the purchase of a child or adult general admission ticket. Children are invited to create a personalized hand-trace, fish-themed Mother’s Day card in the first floor classroom and the first 150 visiting moms receive a complimentary button. Expect a scavenger hunt where moms have the opportunity to win an aquarium annual pass in addition to learning the aquarium's fascinating facts about animal parenting behavior. The Greater Cleveland Aquarium is located at 2000 Sycamore Street.
