A complaint filed in federal court by Great Lakes and 13 other beverage sellers alleges the state is violating their constitutional rights by not allowing them to import hemp products to make their beverages.
Both brands offer “fundamentally different goods and services sold through entirely different channels,” lawyers for the local cannabis company argued.
The class action suit, filed with help from the NAACP in 2019, accused the city utility of discriminating against Black residents of Cuyahoga County when it placed a disproportionate number of liens on their homes for unpaid bills.
