Re: “The Real Christina Gaston

Bravo to Scene magazine for busting this story wide open. The CMA board, the CMA administration, the "newspaper" known as the plain dealer, and last but not least the keystone kops in Cleveland Heights make us look like a bunch of ignorant hillbillies. And how DARE MR. Franklin claim, from this "missing" text say she was depressed at work. WTF? She was working for the magnificent Chamberfest, a reason to be extremely proud of Cleveland. Our NEW crown jewel! No one could be depressed working for CF. Franklin Cohen's heartfelt tribute to Christina Gaston at the second to last concert in Mixon Hall was so moving. I didn't know any of them but both Franklin Cohen and his beautiful brilliant daughter Diana made everyone feel like part of their family through the whole second season. And I was so sad for them because something terrible had clearly happened. He dedicated the hauntingly lovely Brahm's clarinet quintet to her. Now it all makes tragic sense.

MR. Franklin has made a career out of his renaissance knowledge and also of destroying evidence. He should remember what happened to Caravaggio.

Re: “Cleveland Museum of Art Board Investigated David Franklin's Affair, Forced His Resignation

Franklin has obtained the services of Virginia Davidson at Calfee Halter and Griswold according to the PD better-late-than never and STILL-not-really- telling-the-whole-truth article. She "chairs the firm's White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice...defends individuals...boards...internal and external investigations..." So attorney and Chairman R. Steven Kestner who delayed this "private matter" until (probably) her family demanded he be fired, is possibly keeping Franklin on the payroll because Franklin has an attorney who might be asking some very pointed questions of the CMA. Let's face it Franklin will be lucky to get a part time job in retail and he DID successfully sue the National Gallery in Ottawa after doing pretty shifty unorthodox stuff and got his job back. And Mrs. Franklin is unlikely to be able to pay their $670,000 mortgage off from her earnings as a fabric artist. The manchild needs an income and even if the victims' cellphone, camera and likely suicide note have vanished into thin air, well....he's probably getting a handsome monthly check with no "transition duties" attached to it. For a board full of lawyers and newspaper editors, a random 6 names from the phone book would have done a better job steering one of Cleveland's crown jewels through this mess.

Re: “Cleveland Museum of Art Board Investigated David Franklin's Affair, Forced His Resignation

Thank you SCENE magazine for breaking this story and forcing the Plain Dealer to reveal SOME of what they know. But why is Fred Bidwell the "interim" director when as a member of the board he was involved in this shameful cover up. As recently as Tuesday he told the CMA employees the reason for Franklin's "resignation" was to remain private implying people would be fired for talking to the media. And HE knew the deceased from the Akron Art Museum, along with MRS. Bidwell. Did they introduce her to Franklin? The whole board should go. Hinman Hurlbert is spinning in his grave

Re: “Former Cleveland Museum of Art Director David Franklin Resigns After Affair, Suicide; Cell Phone of Victim Missing

No suicide note, back door "open" (after he let himself in with a key?), "depressed" from work (according to DF, NOTHING to do with him of course her married boyfriend) added to the missing cellphone and camera. Looks the the PD and the CMA board not the only ones giving him a free pass. CH police??? Car 54 where are you? And that very glamorous pretend Vogue cover taken by MRS. Fred Bidwell of the young was all fun until it wasn't

Re: “Former Cleveland Museum of Art Director David Franklin Resigns After Affair, Suicide; Cell Phone of Victim Missing

I spoke to an employee today while I was at CMA and they were all told in separate little groups by "interim" director Fred Bidwell that Franklin left for "private" reasons and the reasons are to remain private. Good luck with that and THANK YOU Scene magazine for not getting the memo and for always doing the investigations the pathetic PD is soooo afraid to do.

Re: “CMA Director David Franklin Resigns for "Personal Reasons," Speculation Abounds

While his sleazy behavior with a CMA employee is hardly cause for celebration, is he really responsible for the young woman's suicide. And since she killed herself 5 months ago, why is he quitting now. Who pushed him out the door on Monday? The board managed with the eager assistance of the "reporters" at the PD, always complicit in covering up Cleveland's nasty scandals from the riff raff, to keep this quiet. The last thing Mr. Franklin wants to do is "writing" and "research" when he had one of the best museum jobs in the country with a band of cheerleaders in the press. Thank you Mr. Allard for revealing the truth, as Scene magazine always does, within one day of the "announcement"
