Cleveland Music City Show with The Modern Electric/Attack Cat/The Very Knees

It wouldn’t be surprising if the boys of The Modern Electric started the band just for the sake of making music videos. The foursome puts more emphasis on the “cinema” half of their cinematic pop genre, but it was made clear on their self-titled debut album they had already mastered the “pop” part. If you’re in the business of scoring movies, the grating vocals of “Where I Belong” belong in a ’70s-set coming-of-age movie, while the piano rich “All We Have is Now” already has a zombie love story theme. (Really, is there a line cuter than “every beat of your heart is one less I’ve got"?) It’s just a matter of time before The Modern Electric owns the pop world, so we should take advantage while they’re still here. For this special show, they’re paired up with Black Taxi, a like-minded act of New York that local promoter Outer Circuit Presents is bringing in to encourage collaboration and connection between Cleveland indie rocks and ones from out of town.
