
July 8 will always be remembered as an important day in Cleveland sports history. We’re talking, of course, about the anniversary of Sandy Alomar’s all-star game homer in front of the hometown crowd at The Jake on July 8, 1997. He was named the All Star Game MVP, the first time a player’s been given the honor at his home park. Good decision by the voters.
