More Complaints About Tailgating in "The Pit"

Posted By on Wed, Oct 5, 2011 at 2:46 PM

After we posted the new rule sheet "The Pit" is making tailgaters abide by this year — no throwing footballs, guys! It's all fun 'til someone loses an eye! — we got this note from a longtime Pit denizen. He, like many others, is leaving the once popular tailgating destination after a run-in with the owner. See the email correspondence below.

First, the introduction from the fan:

Keep in mind that two weeks in a row we advised them that we do not sell anything from our truck. Rather, one of the members of our group has it for his pizza restaurant. We bring it down for the fryer, power . . . There is no money made and it is simply a white truck with the name of the pizzeria on the side. The first week the owner walked up and said he needed to "get his cut" of the money we were making. The second week he indicated that he didn't care that we weren't charging, he wanted an extra $300 on top of what we paid for the parking spaces. Then we get this email below.

Fact is they are trying to take as much money from individuals as they can, while at the same time ruining one of the best tailgate venues in the country. I hope they weren't surprised that their lot was half empty this past week.

Second, the response from "The Pit" (from Fatmir Sallilari):

In regards to our companies parking lot know as the Pit located off of west 3rd street near the rail road tracks . We do not allow Commercial food trailers without a agreement worked out with our management ahead of time esp. given the additional waste that is created and the additional liabilities . I am sending this email and would like you to please confirm that you will not be parking this Sunday with your commercial food trailer . If you are planning on parking in our lot with your commercial trailer ,then please contact our lawyer [redacted] to work out a arrangement .
