During an important business meeting with Scene contributor and blogger extraordinaire Cleveland Frowns last weekend, we happened to strike up a conversation with a former waitress at XO. That W. 6th hot spot, you might remember, was one of LeBron James’ favorite stomping grounds during his time in Cleveland.
The problem with having LeBron James as a regular patron, as we documented back in 2008 and as XO employees know, is that LeBron is known as what restaurant industry folks like to call a shitty fucking tipper. That’s the technical term.
In addition to the reported $10 tip on an $800 bill, it was also whispered that one server had up and quit because of LeBron’s antics, which included sticking around til 3 or 4 in the morning with his hangers-on, keeping the staff late as they waited for LeBron to find pennies in his pocket to leave on the table.
The former XO waitress added some new details, all gleefully mundane but awesome. Thankfully, we’re intrepid reporters and we dutifully jotted them down on bar napkins, which also had nacho cheese stains on them, so it was really hard to read what we wrote.

Cheapskate…
Dooshbag…
Stay in Miami…
…Love Cleveland
“During an important business meeting with Scene contributor and blogger extraordinaire Cleveland Frowns last weekend…”
Translation: “While I was throwing down a case of beer with Scene contributor and blogger extraordinaire Cleveland Frowns last weekend…”
On a side note, I think this article confirms what all of us knew deep down inside but chose to ignore for years: LeBron is an asshole, and has always been an asshole who feels he is entitled to everything.
LeBron liked his steak well done, which minus the “well” part, was what he is in the fourth quarter…done.
I can’t believe you revealed the secret gender of our source. Savage!
@AdamHall: How shocking that a guy who went from poverty to unprecedent fame/fortune as a teenager would feel entitled to things. You’re a genius for figuring this out.
His pocket may be rich, but his soul is still poor.
The guy has, and always will be a straight up ASSHOLE. I watched this guy in a game have a temper tantrum walking towards the bench in the 4th qr. when their team was down by like 20. This A-Hole preceded to kick a half full water bottle that was lying on the court, over the chairs his team was sitting, and drilled a little girl that couldn’t have been more then 8yrs old, right in the shoulder knocking her down. After seeing what had occurred, you would think he would have checked to see if she was alright, correct??? No that punk ass piece of shit, waved his hand like “whatever” and sat down ignoring what he just did. He is an Absolute GARBAGE person. I hope that he goes his entire career winning ZERO championships, it would be AWESOME!
Seriously? I hope its worth all the page clicks that Lebrons name brings, to make the city yet again look bitter and angry. If these things are true and he acts like that in restaurants then its bound to happen in Miami as well. SO let them report on it if true and stfu. This is straight up tabloid, yellow journalism.
Quit making our city look like the bitter girlfriend and enjoy your 15 minutes.
I have always said, the guy is a classless, perversely over paid jerk!
That’s what she said. That he has a very small tip,I mean.
@Frowns I am a genuis. One of my other awesome observations: a guy who is athletic, 6’8″, and 250 lbs will get lots of money handed to him to play basketball. Another shocking observation: a multi-millionaire and globally-known athlete is apparently too stupid to hire someone that knows how to handle PR. Man, I’m firing these babies out left and right!
This is all bullshit and you’re all idiots for believing shit you read online. Dumb fucks
Most wise money managers do not tip. Less the restaurant owners who cheat on their taxes pay their employees a living wage. ITS NOT THE CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY TO SUPPORT THE STAFF.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LeBron is member of a segment of the population that feels tipping is not necessary. I have no idea why this is the case–but it is real. Not sure if it based on an unwillingness to adhere to social norms? I have 8 years of history that reinforces this observation
