Ever since the pop rock act Train formed in 1994, the band has included Cleveland as a tour stop. In the early days, it often played the Agora Theatre (and one year even headlined the Scene Music Awards). But to hear drummer Scott Underwood tell it, the band didn’t initially have high hopes for finding a fan base here.

“Cleveland was one of those towns that when we first went there, we didn’t think would be amazing,” he says. “When we got there, we realized it’s a really cool town. There’s something really cool about Cleveland. It’s got its own vibe. It’s a unique town. We’ve been sure to get ourselves back there on every tour. There are towns we had to cut from this tour because we’re doing major markets but we couldn’t cut Cleveland. Plus, our keyboardist is from Cleveland and we have to represent.”

The tour is the biggest yet for the San Francisco group and Underwood said he was initially a bit concerned about all the new moving parts but the tour successfully launched last week without any glitches.

“We had the first show jitters because there were so many new technical things, we didn’t know if everything would work,” he says. “But everything went smoothly.”

The band has just reissued its 2012 album, California 37, with three additional studio recordings, including "Futon,” "To Be Loved" and a cover of John Lennon's iconic, "Imagine.” And Woodward says the band has so many hits at this point, it has a hard time fitting them all into the set. “For years and years, we would have one song that everybody wanted to hear. You had to play it last and you hope they like the rest of the material. Now, that's totally changed.“ The band performs with Gavin DeGraw and the Script at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Blossom.
