YouTube user BA232 recently uploaded this original video footage to the social sharing site, depicting the sorry state of another abandoned Ohio landmark, Geauga Lake Amusement Park.
For those of you who remember the old park, you’ll get a glimpse of attractions like the Big Dipper, the Skycoaster, and even Raging Wolf Bobs from an aerial vantage point.
While this video may bring back fond memories of yesteryear, it’s quite sad to think of the state of this park now. As YouTube commenter Kimberlee Bublik points out, the footage looks like something straight out of the Walking Dead.
Eerie.

it is so sad me remembering going there as a kid and having a wonderful time. ny time can sure bring on a change Bonnie
AT LOOK AT IT NOW WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS. COULD OF BEEN MAKING
MEMORIES. INSTEAD OF DEAD LAND MONEY ROOT OF ALL EVIL
What a shame. This use to be one of the best parks around. It makes me sad to know that the Big Dipper a ride that my dad many many years ago help rebuild is now just a major eye sore. I can’t believe Cedar Fairs closed this place. Major heart break
That saddens me so much! I have more memories there with my family then I can count! It’s too bad my children won’t get to experience it the way we did!! 😭😪😰😢😒😔
It’s really sad that something like the Big Dipper is just sitting there rotting away, hidden behind high walls and fences like an embarrassment when it was a crown jewel in the past.
As a maintenance ride mechanic from 70 to 79.
This video is fucking unreal!
The BD is the only thing recognizable to me.
I am36 I went to park for over 25 yrs I loved wave pool and slides I thought water park was still open when did close
Umm that’s not the Big Dipper. It was torn down before the park even closed. That’s the wolf bobs. C’mon. Article writer and fake Lake fans, get your facts straight.
Waterparks is open on Sea World side of lake (and actually quite nice) but a fraction of what was once there – sad thing is had Sea Workd never so,d our – and instead been the one buying out the other side, it would still be a thriving entertainment business…instead, a nice little water park, two decimated and decaying former businesses that employed thousands of kids over the summer (–& those jobs are now gone for those kids)…
That is the big dipper – someone bought it but they cannot figure out how to move it. The wolf bobs is white.
Wrongo – both the Big Dipper and the Raging Wolf Bobs are still standing – and slowing decaying…I pass this area practically every day….
I spent my senior grad night back in 98 or 97 there. This is so sad. I remember the Texas Twister and Raging Wolf Bob were my favorites. Oh and everyone threw up on the Roter! Smh
Wow, Just like everyone else, I spent most of my childhood/teen years at this place, as well as Sea-world! That place needs to be at least cleaned up, it really looks environmentally and physically unsafe!
I was born and raised in Cleveland. I visited this park many times. I left Cleveland many moons ago and every time I tell someone I’m from there, they blank stare me! Some good memories but most bad!
Went to both seaworld and G.L every year my whole life sad vary sad
We’ll Tammy then were glad your gone
Let’s clarify from a few posts on the 11/29. Big Dipper still stands along 43 like it always did. The Wolf Bobs was ripped down a couple weeks back due to part of it collapsing.
Yes, need to sell the producers of the Walking Dead to film a season at Geagua……perfect!!!!!
Cool drone!
Just seems like such a waste.. Hurts my heart… I have memories of Geauga Lake that I hold so dear to my heart.. Like my grandmother riding when I was about 10.. She loved the roller coasters… How many remember Euclid Beach Park???
Hey, does anyone else remember that weird guy who used to ride the rotor all day, every day?
This is really sad…I didn’t even know they closed it! Why did they tear everything down? They still could have made decent money and everyone could have made more memories…I remember this place when I was little and the big dipper was my first coaster…very sad that you can’t even recognize anything but the big dipper 🙁
I just cried.
I worked here when I was 17 and it sucks to see this park gone, and Jim I sooo remember the rotor guy! It is such a shame, always had season passes to this park, just stinks that it is gone!
It is really sad to see that Cedar Fair has let this once historic park look like this. Breaks my heart everytime we ride past.
Cedar Point (Cedar Fair) bought it and closed it shortly after. They sold off the newer coasters. I guess the best way to get rid of it’s competition. I don’t go to CP anymore for this reason. I can’t believe Aurora allows this to sit like this. They should be suing CP for this eyesore.
Good time there. I work there back in 07 best timei had there. Miss this park.
Shame on you Cedar Fair for letting this happen. We were shocked when you took our Geauga Lake from us. We had season passes every year and would have continued for many years to come. What a horrible and sad sight now !!!!
It was a awesome amusement park. So sad 2 see the video of it.
Loved this park. So sad 2 watch the video 🙁
From my understanding cedar fair had to close it down. When six flags had the park they put cheaply made rides that became unsafe over time. I believe the x-flight or superman ride when six flags had park ripped a kids leg off when a cable came across the back of the ride when it turn you over upside down. Park closed not long after that prolly from lawsuits if I had to guess.
oMG I remember that guy riding the rotor everyday all day long it didn’t matter what time of the year or what day I went he was always there the one year I went I went like 4 or 5 times and every time she was on they even posted a note above the door when you left and said yes we know there is a guy hiding behind the door lol what’s even sadder about the park is I didn’t even know it closed I thought it opened back up as something else when Cedar Point bought it out

It’s really fun to go in there during the middle of the night and explore through the park. A must-do adventure for summertime. But be careful, a while back I was there and noticed some patrolling. Be careful 😉
Its cause it was no match for Cedar Point. Once six flags took it over it was down hill. This doesnt remind me of walking dead. Just a presentation of what happens when economy and place and ran into the ground. Now if cedar point was smart they should buy this. Think it would be smart for them to have. Second amusement park.
This is sooo sad! I too, like most people on here have lots of memories here- with my Dad and brothers and with my Mom… I am disgusted that Cedar Fair has just let it go to hell like this! Beyond sad!
Rotor guyyyyyy!!!
It’s what America will look like if obama has his way !!
well hell here and idea ,why dont we rebuild it ,look at all the possibilities , not to mention it could be state of the art and create
JOBS
I remember this place. Every year we went, and had a great time with the family. Would stay there all day. It was also cheaper than any other place to go. Its to bad it looks like this now. Wish someone could buy it and reopen it. If not then tare it all down, and put something else there that would draw in a crowd for the young and old.
Cedar Fair does own this park and did the same to Americana when they bought it out as well. They own Coney Island outside cincy and ruined it although it is still in operation “Old” Coney is no more.
wheres the rotor guy now
Love all the experts here. Big Dipper is still standing it has remained untouched since its final run in September of 2007. Unfortunately the cars were left out and have rotted to the point of being unusable. Raging Wolf Bobs however was completely demolished over winter of 2013 and it no longer stands. The only ride left standing is Big Dipper. It was supposedly sold at auction t Apex Machinery represented by Tom Woosnam – that is up for debate.
