NBA Passes on Cleveland to Host the 2017 All-Star Game

Once the NBA announced it would no longer be hosting the 2017 All-Star Game in Charlotte, North Carolina, over the state's anti-LBGTQ HB2 Bill, the runner up host city seemed to be a toss up. Even Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan sent a letter to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to remind him about just how awesome Cleveland is...and received an encouraging response:

But...alas, the NBA has chosen New Orleans to host the game instead. House representatives Marcy Kaptur, Joyce Beatty and Marcia Fudge also launched social media campaigns to bring the game to Cleveland, but it wasn't enough.

To be fair, New Orleans was rumored to be the runner-up shortly after it was announced Charlotte was out of the running. However with Cleveland having a breakout year, there seemed to be room to at least imagine the possibilities.

In case you were wondering, Los Angeles is slated to host the 2018 All-Star Game, and Charlotte still has first dibs on the 2019 game.
